Hot Weather, Fast Horses, and a Whole Lot of Heart
June 21st lived up to its name at the Beat the Heat Barrel Race—scorching temps, dust in the air, and horses as fiery as the sun. Hosted at Grizzle Ridge Arena, the event was a high-energy mix of athleticism, grit, and summer heat.
From the first gate to the final barrel, riders gave it everything. Horses were spicy, riders were focused, and the arena was filled with that perfect blend of adrenaline and community spirit.
As a photographer who spends a lot of time around equine athletes, I live for moments like these—the ones that test timing, trust, and tenacity. The challenge of working under covered roof and low lighting? Worth it. The result? Images that capture the heat, the hustle, and the heart of the sport.
A Few of My Favorite Frames
Below are just a few highlights from the day—images that stood out for their intensity, emotion, or that perfect frozen-in-time kick of dust. Whether it was a powerful run, a quiet moment between horse and rider, or just a flash of flying mane and focus, I was honored to capture it.

Thank You, Grizzle Ridge
Big thanks to Grizzle Ridge Arena for hosting another smooth and spirited event—and to every rider who gave it their all in the heat. Your passion makes what I do possible, and it never goes unnoticed.
Until next time, stay cool out there—and keep chasing those fast turns.
