It is no secret that I love to travel. I have lived on the ocean, circumnavigated the Atlantic Ocean and visited well over a dozen foreign countries. I have done it all with a camera in my hand and while making amazing vacation images of landscapes and seascapes.
On my last trip to Alaska one of the few things I noticed was other travelers relying on their cell phones to create amazing images or capture the local wildlife. Things that even with my professional gear was a struggle especially when location and distance was determine by where our ship was physically located.
However I recognize most travelers will not be traveling with professional photography gear. So the question becomes how do you take amazing vacation photos with just a cell phone.

Natural light is your best friend in photography. Aim to shoot during the golden hours—shortly after sunrise and before sunset—when the light is soft and warm. This timing enhances colors and reduces harsh shadows, resulting in more flattering and dynamic images.

Post-processing can elevate your images. Use editing apps to adjust brightness, contrast, and saturation, but aim to enhance the photo without over-editing. Subtle adjustments can make a significant difference in the final result.
