Raw Image

Raw vs Old vs New Performance Image

August 05, 2024 in Photography

In 2019 I took an Alaskan cruise and one of the fun things I challenged myself to do was to photograph the live shows nightly without knowing any of the performances or performers stage placements. Essentially, I was shooting blind every night.

I loved many, many of the images I made. I love the edits I did on them and even the raw versions. In fact I did little in the way of edits back in 2019.

However to have fun I did decide to select a favorite and re-edit it.

2019 Edit

2024 New Edit

The old edit and new are side by side and for the most part there are few differences. However the new edit I cleaned the pixels, warmed the image, and cleaned up some distracting highlights.

Both images are great but just a little different based on my editing tastes of today. In fact I made the 2024 edit blind without looking at what I did with the 2019 edit and they are fairly similar down to how exactly I cropped the image. In six years one can say who I am as a photographer I am consistent.
