A few months ago, a good friend of mine came to me with an idea. She was excited, motivated — and she wanted my advice. It was a great idea, and in helping her, I found myself reflecting on my own journey as a professional photographer. That moment sparked something unexpected: an idea for my own next step.
But this next step? It’s not as straightforward as submitting to a publication or booking a gallery show. It’s more nuanced, more intentional — and it starts with something that may seem small from the outside: a subtle rebrand.
When I first dreamed up Exposure One Studios back in 2012, I had no idea the dream would take nearly five years to materialize — or the incredible journey that would follow. Since then, I’ve accomplished more than I ever imagined. Childhood dreams of being both an artist and author? Check and check.
I’ve poured so much of myself into this brand. I love what I’ve created, and I didn’t want to change that. But I realized I could elevate it. I could take everything I’ve built and refine it — just enough to reflect where I’m going next.
This rebrand is subtle, elegant, and purposeful. It’s the beginning of something new — the foundation for expanding my offerings to include fine art prints and collector-level photography.
To do that, I had to take a hard look at my brand identity. I’ve always loved purple and teal, with black accents — it works beautifully in my watermarking, and it’s been part of my visual identity from the start. But I’ve refined the palette now: shifting toward richer, more luxurious tones, and introducing gold as an accent to bring a sense of timeless sophistication.
The most meaningful change, though? My tagline.
After 14 years of standing proudly behind “Photography Focused on You,” I’ve decided to evolve into something that speaks even more clearly to my passion and direction:
“Where Legacy and Excellence Ride Together.”
It’s a subtle nod to my deep love of equine photography, my desire to create fine art, and my continued commitment to delivering images that are rooted in intention, artistry, and connection.
These may not be big changes to the casual observer — unless you have a sharp eye for fonts or brand tones — but for me, they are monumental. They represent not just where I’ve been, but where I’m headed. And they mark a series of big goals I’ve set for myself and for Exposure One Studios for the rest of this year and beyond.
Here’s to the subtle shifts that carry big meaning — and the next chapter of the journey.
