Why I Stepped Away from Stock Licensing—for Now

For years, I licensed and sold my photography through Getty via 500px. That partnership served me well for a long time, giving my work global exposure and connecting it to a broader market. But recently, I found myself growing disenchanted with 500px and felt it was time for a change.

In search of a more direct route, I applied and was accepted to license with Getty and iStock without using 500px as a middleman. While it was exciting to be accepted, I quickly realized why platforms like 500px had served as a bridge—Getty’s contributor interface wasn’t exactly intuitive, and it took some real effort to understand the submission and upload process.

Still, once I got the hang of it, the system was functional and straightforward. But as I prepared to dive in, I found myself pausing.

The truth is: I’ve decided to step away from licensing my work as stock—for now.

I’m shifting my focus toward building a more intentional fine art collection and growing my print sales. This direction gives me the freedom to retain exclusivity over my images, and to connect with collectors, publications, and galleries in ways that feel more aligned with the kind of work I want to be making.

That doesn’t mean I’ll never return to licensing—but for now, I’m choosing a different path.

Thanks for following along with my creative journey. If you're interested in collecting my work or seeing what’s new, stay tuned—my fine art offerings are expanding, and I’ll be sharing updates regularly.
